Nitrous Oxide Adds Comfort to Urology Procedures

For patients looking for a more relaxed experience during procedures, Comprehensive Urologic Care is now offering Nitrous Oxide.

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective sedative that helps you relax during certain procedures. Sometimes called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a clear, odorless gas.

It can make uncomfortable procedures more comfortable by reducing pain and anxiety.

How Does Nitrous Oxide Work?

Nitrous oxide is a fast-acting sedative that slows down your nervous system. It does not put you to sleep. You will be awake and able to talk with your medical team. Your doctor can easily adjust the amount of sedation you’re receiving for optimal benefit.

Our system uses a mix of 50% oxygen and 50% nitrous oxide. It’s safe, effective, and takes effect in seconds.

It wears off quickly, so you will be able to drive yourself home.

What are the side effects?

Most people do not experience side effects from nitrous oxide. Side effects are mild and may include watering of the eyes and a floating feeling.

Is Nitrous Oxide covered by insurance?

Currently, nitrous oxide is not covered by insurance. If you elect to receive nitrous oxide, you will sign consent forms and pay $125.
